Most People Don’t Floss Their Teeth Correctly

Are you tired of the same old flossing routine? Well, we have some exciting news for you! Introducing the adapted horizontal vertical flossing technique (AHVFT), a revolutionary method that combines horizontal and vertical flossing to target those hard-to-reach areas between your teeth and up into the gum.

Why is plaque removal so important, you ask? Because plaque buildup can lead to gum disease, including the early stage known as gingivitis. As plaque and bacteria accumulate, they can cause infection, resulting in unpleasant symptoms like swelling, redness, and bleeding while brushing.

In a recent AHVFT trial, researchers used bleeding as a marker of dental health. Non-smoking participants with gingivitis were divided into two groups: one continued their regular dental hygiene routine, while the other incorporated the AHVFT flossing technique. The participants’ gums were examined at regular intervals, and the results were astonishing.

By the end of the study, those who had used AHVFT experienced a remarkable 70 percent reduction in gum bleeding, compared to only 30 percent in the other group. It’s clear that this innovative flossing technique can significantly improve markers of gum disease, even when practiced just once a day.

But the benefits of flossing go beyond just oral hygiene. Gum disease, if left untreated, can lead to irreversible damage and tooth loss. Furthermore, emerging evidence suggests that it may also contribute to the development of serious health conditions such as Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers.

While genetics can play a role in gum disease risk, incorporating AHVFT into your daily routine can greatly enhance your chances of maintaining a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile. So why not invest a little time in your oral hygiene? The results are worth it!
