Get ready for an out-of-this-world adventure! Virgin Galactic is finally launching its first space tourists on a thrilling rocket ship ride. Among the lucky passengers are an 80-year-old former British Olympian who purchased his ticket a whopping 18 years ago, and a mother-daughter duo from the Caribbean.
The rocket-powered plane was carried aloft Thursday morning from Spaceport America in the New Mexico desert. After being released, it will fire its rocket to reach the edge of space.
If all goes well, Virgin Galactic, led by Richard Branson, will soon offer monthly trips to customers on its winged space plane
